Nope, we looked it up, and other people have had the same problem. Apparently on Vista some recent AVGs have a thing where it won't let you download anything (at all - not even text files >.<Augenzwinkern.

*flails* 25.02.2010 07:15 Forum: The Meeting Place

Well, yeah, I vanished for awhile again. Primarily due to busy stuff IRL, busy stuff roleplaying online, and...well, a serious lack of motivation.

But, there's also the fact that due to this computer being weird (more specifically, having had AVG installed on it... <_< ), I can't install Spring* on it. >.<

So, either I can get down to it, play the Philippines and have somebody else design my ships, or I can step back and let somebody take it over completely again. traurig

If so, a Fw 187 and He 112 will be present for publicity purposes only, and Presidente Garcia will [s]eat[/s] sack whoever was responsible for delaying the entry form. Zunge raus

Back, again 17.01.2010 18:54 Forum: The Meeting Place

Sorry for vanishing on y'all again. The last few months RL has been kicking me what with trying to find a job (and epically failing so far...), worrying about a good friend in a very bad situation who lives 500 miles away unglücklich , family (ie still-living-with-the-parents) stress, etc., etc., etc. I'll try to catch up asap.

...providing the dying computer (there is a replacement waiting in the wings, though) and the potential jury duty this week let me. böse

2003 Hyundai Accent hatchback here. Economical and solid.

As for drinking, I've never had a single drop of anything. I don't want to, either, unless I'm with someone special...but recent events have me feeling I might wind up a lifelong celibate batchelor. traurig

But Wait, There's More! 12.10.2009 22:59 Forum: Aircraft Design

The Philippines thanks all competitors for their submissions, and announces that the following competitors have been selected.

For the Long Range Fighter requirement, the Focke-Wulf Fw 187P-6.

For the Long Range Bomber/Patrol requirement, the AeroDynamics RBW-12 Albatros.
In addition, Heinkel is inquired about production of their latest He 111 model in their Filipino factory for a medium range requirement.

For the Carrier requirement, the FMA I-01N, the Nakajima B5N2, and the Aichi D3A are selected.

***

In Addition...

The Philippines requests submissions for three additional requirements.

Given that a seaplane was selected for the LRB/P requirement, the specification is split, and a landplane capable of long range and heavy payload is requested.

Requirements for the VHB are:
-Three or more engines.
-Combat radius with bombload of 4 x 500kg bombs, 2500km (2750km preferred).
-Defensive armamament sufficent for a formation of four aircraft to be self-escorting.

Scout/Reconnasiance Aircraft

A requirement for an Army Co-Operation type has been identified.

Requirements for the ACSRA are:
-Ability to take off and land on a 1,320-foot strip over a 25-foot obstacle.
-Loiter time of 250 minutes after a 75-mile flight from the operating location.
-Armament of one forwards-firing and one defensive rifle-calibre machine guns, provision for the carrage internal or external of four 25-kg bombs, and the ability to fire a rifle or grenade launcher aft and astern.

Troop and Cargo Transport/Auxilary Bomber

Exactly what it says on the tin.

Requirements for the TCT/AB are:
-Carriage of 20 equipped troops or 2,500 pounds of cargo.
-Range of 750 miles (1250 preferred).
-Minimum armament of one defensive machine gun.
-Provision for carriage internal or external of 4 x 100kg or 2 x 250kg bombs.

IRL, the Philippines might actually be a place where WIG craft would seem to be useful. Faster than any boat, probably even going 'around', say, the south end of Luzon it's likely faster than most land routes...

Of course, the DAB-X will (almost) certainly remain Napkinwaffe. Zunge raus

The Philippines will not be participating as a competitor, however...

...the Armada will send a delegation, consisiting primarily of pilots, to scout out the recent developments in floatplane design...

...the Aguinaldo Aeronautical Company will be soliciting orders for its AAC-1F Lawin in a floatplane form (as well as the landplane variant, fresh off the runway)...

...and the recently formed Davao Air-Sea Travel and Recreational Designers (DASTARD) Company will be present, hawking their design concepts.

Flights will be undertaken every day of the DAB (Davao Air Boat)-1:

While a model of the DAB-X will be on display, as the small company seeks investors for thier grand scheme...

Just that life has been kicking me while I'm down a fair bit as of late - trying to get a job (and not so much as hearing back from anywhere), a friend I'm deeply worried about (shes in a very abusive realtionship), etc...so I may be spotty, but I'll be around.
